Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how idMax — the idmaxcloud.com website, its in-browser scanning demos, and the idMax SDK apps on the App Store and Google Play (together, "idMax") — handles information. idMax is developed and published by OCR Solutions, Inc. ("we", "us", the "Company").
Summary
idMax reads identity documents and, optionally, compares a face against the document photo. All of this happens on the device you're using — in your browser via WebAssembly on the website, or natively in the app. Document images, extracted data and biometric data are never sent to any server. Neither the website nor the apps use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.
The Website (idmaxcloud.com)
Camera and file access
The live demo pages ask your browser for camera access to scan a document, or let you choose an existing photo file instead. Your browser controls this permission and can be revoked at any time in its own settings.
What is processed, and where
While a demo page is open, it processes the following in your browser's memory, using WebAssembly:
- Camera frames and photos you select, showing the identity document you're scanning.
- Data extracted from the document — names, document numbers, dates and other printed fields, depending on the document.
- Validation results produced by the recognition engine.
None of this is uploaded. It exists only for the duration of your visit and is cleared when you close or reload the tab.
Local storage
The website stores two small preferences in your browser, kept only on your device: your light/dark theme choice, and which camera the live demo used last time so it doesn't have to guess again. Neither value identifies you or contains any document data.
Cookies
The website does not set cookies, including for language selection.
Server access logs
Loading any page requires a network request, and like most websites, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard web server access logs — IP address, requested URL, timestamp, and browser user agent — for security and operational purposes such as detecting abuse or diagnosing outages. These logs are not used for analytics or advertising, and never contain document images, extracted data, or biometric information, because that data never leaves your browser.
Third-party services
The website does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. Fonts and other assets are self-hosted rather than loaded from a third-party CDN.
The Apps (App Store and Google Play)
The idMax apps scan identity documents and, optionally, compare faces on-device using the idMax SDK.
Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | To capture live video frames of identity documents for scanning and face capture. |
| Photo Library | To let you select an existing photo of a document to recognize, instead of using the camera. |
What is processed
While the app is running, it processes the following in memory:
- Camera frames and photos you select, containing images of identity documents and, when you use the face-match feature, images of faces.
- Data extracted from documents by the recognition engine, such as names, document numbers, dates, and other printed fields (varies by document type).
- Images extracted from documents (e.g., portrait photo, signature).
- Validation/check results produced by the recognition engine.
- A similarity score when you use the face-comparison feature.
How this data is handled
All recognition and face-comparison is performed on-device by the embedded idMax SDK. The app does not send document images, extracted personal data, photos, or biometric data to any server. Scanned and extracted data exists only in the app's memory for the duration of your session and is cleared when you close the app or start a new scan. We do not receive, collect, or have access to any of it.
Local app preferences
The app stores a couple of settings on-device: your selected theme (light / dark / system) and your session-timeout setting. Neither includes personal, document, or biometric information, and neither is transmitted off your device.
Third-party services
The app does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or cloud SDKs. The document-recognition engine (idMax SDK) is embedded in the app.
The app links out to the Company's website and to our contact email. Following these opens your device's browser or email app, outside the app and governed by their own privacy practices.
Children's Privacy
idMax is not directed at children and is not intended to knowingly collect information from children. Since no document or personal data ever leaves your device, none is retained by us regardless of the user's age.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because document and biometric data are processed only in memory and never leave your device, there is nothing for us to retain or for you to request deletion of. Closing the app, or the browser tab, clears this data. To reset the on-device preferences described above (theme, camera choice, session timeout), clear your browser's site data or the app's storage via your device's system settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
